There are many roadblocks we must endure throughout our lifetime. And though it may seem that the paths we follow are gloomy and dark, we must never give up, never surrender. Our motto, "For Every End, There is a Beginning" was chosen because we understand that several chapters in our lives, whether good or bad, come to an eventual end. However, out of that end there is a bright beginning and future ahead.

It is our belief that "men and women of ordinary ability become Pillars of Strength when aroused by desire and stimulated by action. When given the opportunity to act, we all will. There is something we all our passionate about that serves as a catalyst to action. Once this passion is ignited, no matter how big or small, , white or black, intellectual, outspoken or timid, you will act.
The purpose of this organization is to establish a cohesive union amongst students, faculty, other organizations, and the community members interested in facilitating cultural education. BSU exists to enhance cultural awareness and acceptance not only for members of the Black Diaspora, but amongst all groups and individuals on the Eastern Oregon Campus and Community.

Foster an understanding and acceptance of all cultures by drawing from the experiences of the black community
Inform on issues that has previously and presently affect the black community.
Attack all systemic racial problems stemming from American society.
Increase self- knowledge and understanding.
Prepare all for greater usefulness in the causes of humanity and freedom
Increase admission of Blacks into Eastern Oregon University.
Serve as a resource to all other groups on campus
