How to submit a letter to the editor
Mechanics: Please attach your letter of 200 words or less to an e-mail to thevoice@eou.edu. Please do not double-space your letter, or use fancy graphics. Attachments in Word or text-only files work well.
Deadlines: Please submit your letter at least a week before the issue in which you'd like it to appear.
Content: The Voice observes Associated Press standards for profanity and vulgarity. We reserve the right to edit letters for content, grammar or length.
How to submit a news story
Type your story in a standard word processing program. You do not need to double-space, leave extra room at the top or indent each paragraph. You also do not need to type "more" at the end of each page since you will submit electronically.
We recommend that you give your file a distinctive name and include your name as you wish it to be published. Otherwise, for example, we may need to interpret whether you go by Joseph or Joe in print. If you have a great idea for a headline and deck, please include these also. Save the file in either Word or text-only format.
Attach the story to an e-mail to both thevoice@eou.edu, and the editor of the section for which you are writing. (This helps ensure we get your story if the editor is sick or out of town.)
The deadline for most stories is Thursday the week before publication. If you have been assigned a weekend sports story or other late-breaking story, your deadline is Monday.
Following is a list of all the editors and their e-mail addresses, in order of how these sections appear in The Voice.

How to submit a story or column idea
If you have an idea for a story, please call our office at 541-962-3386 or e-mail thevoice@eou.edu. Better yet, please contact the editor who is directly responsible for the type of story you'd like to see covered. For instance, if a sports team is working on a special project, contact the sports editor. If it's a feature story, contact our news and features editor. See the table above for editor contact information.
When you contact the editors, you'll want to provide information about the subject of your story, including the names and phone numbers of potential sources.
The Voice reserves the right to accept or reject story ideas based on their newsworthiness, space considerations and/or lack of direct relationship to the Eastern campus.
