A class teaching
college freshmen about credit and the responsible uses of
it. Using this information we developed a presentation based
on credit card concepts, credit card scams, and an overall
recommendation on the responsible uses of credit. The presentation
included examples of credit card scams using altered credit
card applications and examples of what the small print actually
entailed. The altered credit card applications were used to
stress the importance of reading and comprehending credit
contracts before signing. It also included a basic overview
of interest accumulation and credit card payoff.
Results:
There was a 67% increase of credit knowledge realized from
pre- and post-tests.
