A business consulting
project with the domestic violence/sexual assault shelters
of Northeast Oregon in which SIFE is planning, promoting,
and performing a benefit bike/run relay race. Advertisements
are being distributed in sporting goods stores and media outlets
throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, as well as online.
Proceeds from the race go to the shelters' operating funds
budgets so they may continue to provide valuable benefits
including, but not limited to, crisis intervention services
such as, aid in the form of sheltering victims and their immediate
family, counseling, support groups, providing transportation,
and providing advocacy in the legal system, answering crisis
hotlines, and making community presentations. All materials
will be given to the shelters' board of directors for future
use.
Results:
The race takes place on May 31, 2003, but EOU SIFE has already
collected $500 in corporate sponsorship and plans on grossing
$10,000 by the conclusion of the event. This achievement would
be a tremendous increase over the previous year's fund-raiser.
