I. Fossil Turtles of the Oligocene II. Parvoviral Peptide-DNA Interactions III. Cytoxic Activities of Medicinal Plants
Overview Dr. Corsini currently has three student-oriented research projects. The first is aimed at studying the ecological aspects of 30 million year-old turtles to better understand the Oligocene ecosystem. The second research project aims to assess the interactions between viral proteins and their cognate DNA to gain information about chromosomal integration by these viruses. Dr. Corsini's third project investigates potential antimicrobial properties of a local invasive weed (Hoary Cress).
Student Role Students help prepare turtles for study, conduct experiments, record data, construct graphs of data, and prepare posters. This provides students with an opportunity to gain experience with equipment, writing scietific papers, and presenting research.
