ALIKUT HALL

Summer session students and participants in special summer programs will be housed in Alikut Hall.   This facility has the capacity to house 96 single students in 24 suites. Please note that during the summer of 2008, the first floor will be closed for refurbishing, so capacity will be for 64 single students in 16 suites. Each furnished suite contains four single bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen complete with major appliances.   Suite mates will be responsible for their own cooking and cleaning; cleaning supplies will be provided.  Food Service in Hoke Center is available as an option.   Summer students need to provide their own wastebasket, towels, bedding (mattress size 36" x 80", extra long twin), kitchen utensils, telephone, television, fan and personal items.   Please be aware that Alikut Hall is not air-conditioned and air conditioners may not be installed.  Each bedroom has an activated telephone jack and an Ethernet outlet for personal computer use that can be activated at no charge by contacting the computer center at EOU.

RATES

Summer students will be charged $121.50 per week during summer sessions.  Charges will be applied to the student's account on the first day of classes.   Payment may be made at the Business Office in Inlow Hall.  A limited number of temporary guest housing rooms are available for those who only need a few nights housing for $17.50 per night for a double and $23.50 per night for a single room without bedding provided.   Guest rooms with bedding provided are $23.50 and $29.00 respectively.

HOW TO APPLY

Summer students may apply for on-campus housing by mailing the summer housing contract and $25 deposit to the Residence Life Office, Hoke 111, Eastern Oregon University, One University Boulevard, La Grande, OR   97850.   The deposit of $25 will be applied as a credit toward housing charges if the applicant moves into the hall as contracted.   The application fee will be forfeited if the applicant does not move into the hall as contracted and does not cancel the reservation by June 1st, 2008.  

ARRIVAL INFORMATION

Students may move into the hall between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on the day before the opening of the school session in which the applicant has enrolled.   If special arrangements are required please contact the Residence Life Office, (541) 962-3553.   Report directly to Alikut Hall for check-in.   Failure to move in without advance notice of a late arrival will result in an automatic cancellation of the reservation after the first day of class.

KEY INFORMATION

Upon your arrival you will receive a suite key, room key, mailbox key and security card key. Please keep your room locked.   The University is not responsible for lost articles.   There is a $30 charge for each lost key.

FOOD SERVICE

Hoke Center houses the University's food service operations.   Mac's Grill, including Java City Espresso, and C-3 Convenience Store is open during the summer Monday through Friday from morning until late afternoon.  Contract dining services, RFoC (Real Food on Campus), is generally open most of the summer providing dining services for conferences and youth camps.   Students may purchase all you can eat meals in RFoC for $5.15 for breakfast, $8.80 for lunch, and $13.35 for dinner when the dining room is open.

BEHAVIOR AND CONDUCT

All students and guests are expected to abide by the rules of conduct as outlined in Eastern's Student Conduct Policy, contained within the Eastern Student Handbook which may be found in the office of each residence hall, Pierce Library, and this Website. Violators are subject to disciplinary action pursuant to the Student Conduct Policy.

For your safety and the safety of others please abide by the following rules and regulations:

•  Do not bring animals into the residence halls.   Any exceptions must be cleared with the Director of Residence Life.

•  Fireworks and other explosives are not allowed in the building.

•  The use, possession, or distribution of illegal drugs is prohibited anywhere on the University campus by Oregon state law.

•  Only persons who are 21 years of age and older are permitted to consume alcohol.   Any persons of age who are using alcohol must remain in a closed room, as open containers of alcohol (and drunkenness) are not permitted in public areas such as hallways, bathrooms, lounges, or campus grounds.   The possession of beer in a keg is prohibited in the halls, parking areas, and lawns.

•  Anyone found turning in a false alarm, tampering, damaging, or in any way using fire equipment or safety apparatus for other than its intended use, will be immediately dismissed from the residence hall.   Fire drill participation is mandatory.

•  Please be sensitive to quiet hours and visitation times that are clearly posted in each residence hall.

•  All buildings are smoke free.   Ashtrays for smokers are located outside of the buildings and smokers are asked to smoke outside of the building in designated smoking areas.

Students and guests who violate rules or whose conduct is unsatisfactory may be asked to leave the hall and/or the University forfeiting all payments and vacating the hall within 24 hours.   Dismissal from the residence halls does not cancel the remaining financial obligation of the student.                                                        Top of page
