There are many attributes that must go into being a Senator; some of them being able to make decisions and taking up leadership opportunities. These are the qualities that I know I possess. Being Senator would be important to me because I want to become even more involved with our student leadership opportunities and because along with the other members of the student body, I know we can make a difference ad make Eastern Oregon University even more prosperous.
It would be beneficial to the students to elect me as Senator because I too am a student here at E.O.U. and I know about the issues and goings on, on campus, and if elected I would like to have the opportunity to make more of a contribution to our academic community.
Currently we have the issue of losing students of non Caucasian background because of the lack of cultural awareness and promotion on campus. If elected a Senator I am determined to make this University more culturally aware, and make new coming students feel more welcomed than I felt when I first transferred here.
I am currently the president of the new Spanish Club now known as Impacto Latino, as well as the Multicultural Student Association. Even though we just started this club, we have upwards of 25 members. I am also currently a Spanish tutor. And even though these activities do take up time, there’s nothing else I’d rather do because it’s what I love to do.
In conclusion if elected Senator I will do my best to promote this university as much as possible and put in my contribution into making this university even more successful.
