Sunny Nilson
Hello, my name is Sunshine Nilson. Next year I will be a senior and will graduate with a Politics, Philosophy, and Economics degree. Although currently this is only my first year here at Eastern, I have already had a chance to become involved on campus, as I am serving as a fill-in Senator this Winter and Spring. I look forward to being able to serve again if elected, and I know I will be a great person for the job.
- Being elected Senator would be very important to me for many reasons. First and foremost I want to be involved in the things that are going on here at Eastern to help make it the best place it can be for students. Also in preparing for a future in the law field, I know that positions like these will be valuable to my future. It would be beneficial for students to elect me as a Senator because my experiences in leadership positions have prepared me to be able to do an excellent job. During winter quarter I was elected by ASEOU as a Senator to fill in an empty position. This has allowed me to gain experience in ASEOU already. While just learning how things work this year, next year I will be able to be much more involved and make a greater difference.
- Issues of importance to me are cost of attendance, including tuition and fees, student housing, and athletics. These are areas that have had the most effect on my life. I know that lowering the cost of attendance is something everyone would benefit from and it seems like a very lofty goal, but already this year ASEOU has been involved with bringing back the tuition plateau which will save students a great deal of money.
- I am also involved in the Pre-Law Society and the Honors Club. These take up some time periodically but not a great deal on a regular basis.
