I have served for a year and a half as an ASEOU Senator, and have really enjoyed it. I have learned so much about what goes on around campus and the state, especially concerning budget propositions, the relationship between faculty and students, and how things work within the student government system itself. I have a very strong work ethic, and have experience working in student government organizations, and I think I have adapted well to the existing Senate. I wish to continue to be beneficial to this group that I am proud to be a part of.
Issues that concern me have to do with making the student’s lives easier and enhancing the college experience. Political issues, such as the Governor’s proposed budget for regional schools is something that I am very interested in, and have been working hard to make the ASEOU campaign to save that budget, successful. I am also very interested in uniting many different clubs/organizations here on campus in order to improve communication. Things can only improve when assorted bodies connect with each other and work together for the benefit of both students and staff at EOU.
Right now I am currently a Senator and serve on the Parking Appeals Committee, Tech Fee Committee, Student Fee Committee, Athletic Committee, and have been able to balance school and these obligations as well. Next year I anticipate a light class schedule, so I don’t foresee any conflicts with ASEOU, classes, and other various activities. I hope next year I can continue to serve the students of EOU to my best ability.
